GAF Gutter Replacement: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
GAF gutter replacement in Dallas typically runs $8 to $14 per linear foot installed, which puts most single-family homes between $1,200 and $2,800 depending on footage, fascia condition, and whether you’re replacing downspouts too. We stock GAF-compatible gutter components on our trucks and usually complete a full gutter replacement in one day, assuming the fascia board underneath is sound. Most Dallas homeowners discover the problem the same way: a hard North Texas thunderstorm exposes a section of gutter that’s pulled away from the roofline, rusted through at the seams, or sagged so badly that water sheets over the edge instead of draining.
Which GAF Models This Applies To
GAF doesn’t manufacture a proprietary gutter line the way they do shingles, so “GAF gutter replacement” means replacing the gutter system that’s integrated with your GAF roof. The compatibility question is less about matching a GAF gutter model number and more about matching the gutter profile, material gauge, and downspout configuration to what’s already on the house. Most Dallas homes with GAF roofing have either 5-inch K-style aluminum gutters or 6-inch half-round in older neighborhoods like Lakewood and East Dallas. The gotcha is gauge: cheap builder-grade gutters run .027 aluminum, and they fail fast in hail. We install .032 minimum, which survives Dallas hail seasons that destroy the thinner stuff.
If you’re trying to identify what you have, look at the end cap. 5-inch K-style has a distinct ogee profile. 6-inch half-round looks like a half-pipe. The downspout size should be marked on the elbow if it’s a brand-name product, but most residential gutters are fabricated on-site from coil stock rather than sold as branded units. That’s why we don’t push OEM gutter parts here. The aftermarket options we install, sourced from lines like Owens Corning and CertainTeed, match or exceed the original spec for far less money than chasing a branded replacement that doesn’t meaningfully exist for gutters.
Brennan Roofing Co Dallas is an independent service provider and not affiliated with GAF. We work on GAF roofs daily, and we know exactly how their drip edge and flashing interface with the gutter system. That’s the part that actually matters.

Signs Your GAF Gutter Replacement Is Failing
- Water spilling over the front edge during rain. This usually means the gutter pitch has gone flat. Over years, brackets loosen from the fascia, and the slight slope that carries water to the downspout disappears. Water that overshoots the gutter lands at the foundation, and in Dallas clay soil that means movement, cracks, and slab issues that cost real money.
- Gutter pulling away from the fascia with visible screw holes torn open. Rusted or stripped screws are the culprit, especially on older wood fascia. We see this constantly in post-2010 builds across North Dallas where builders used the cheapest hangers available.
- Standing water in the gutter after rain has stopped. Debris blockage is the simple answer, but if it’s clean and still pooling, the gutter has lost its slope or the outlet is undersized for the roof area. Standing water breeds mosquitoes and accelerates rust at the seams.
- Rust streaks on the gutter face or rust holes at the bottom of downspout bends. Aluminum doesn’t rust, but steel screws and cheap seam sealer do. The streaks are dissolved iron running down the face. Once you see this, the structural integrity at those seams is compromised.
- Seam separation with visible daylight between gutter sections. The seam sealer breaks down from UV and thermal cycling. Dallas swings from 20 degrees in winter to 105 in July, and that expansion and contraction eventually splits every seamed joint. Once water starts dripping through the seam onto the fascia, wood rot follows quickly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Dallas, expect to pay:
- 5-inch K-style aluminum, seamless: $8 to $11 per linear foot installed
- 6-inch K-style aluminum, seamless: $10 to $14 per linear foot installed
- Downspouts (2×3 inch or 3×4 inch): $4 to $7 per vertical foot installed
- Fascia board replacement (when rot is present): $3 to $6 per linear foot
- Gutter guards (optional): $4 to $8 per linear foot installed
The range depends on roof height, accessibility, linear footage, and whether the fascia boards beneath the old gutters are worth saving. On two-story homes in Frisco and Plano we often find the second-story fascia needs repair before new gutters can hang straight. You’ll know before we start: the price goes on paper in writing before any work begins, and it doesn’t move at the door. That’s the Garrison Standard, and it applies to every gutter replacement we do in Dallas. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the entire installation in writing for one full year. If the gutter fails within that window, we come back free and make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things before picking up the phone. Walk the perimeter and note where water stains are showing on the fascia. Look for sag sections and daylight through seams. Check whether downspouts actually discharge water away from the slab. But the actual replacement is not a ladder-and-hammer job. Seamless gutters are fabricated on-site using a coil machine, and hanging them correctly means setting pitch, spacing brackets for wind load, and sealing corners that have to survive decades of Texas storms. The danger point is the ladder itself. Two-story roof edges in Dallas mean working 20-plus feet off the ground with a 20-foot section of aluminum, and if the ladder kicks out, the gutter isn’t the only thing that hits the ground. Travis Oakley’s crew does this work daily with proper ladder tie-offs and harnesses when the pitch calls for it. If you want to watch from the porch, fine. Get off the ladder and call (903) 499-4441.
FAQs
Aluminum gutters in Dallas last 12 to 20 years depending on gauge and maintenance. Hail is the big variable. The thinner the aluminum, the faster hail dents and fractures the profile. Gutter sections that survive 15 years in the mild parts of California often need replacement in half that time in Dallas due to hail impact plus the thermal cycling from our freeze-thaw winters.
Yes, in some cases. A single damaged section between seams can be replaced without redoing the entire run, as long as the adjacent sections are sound and the pitch hasn’t failed. But on older installations with multiple failing seams and rusted brackets, section repair becomes whack-a-mole. You’ll pay more over three years than a full replacement would have cost. Call (903) 499-4441 and we’ll tell you which situation you’re in.
A typical single-story Dallas home with 150 to 200 linear feet of gutter can be finished in one working day. Two-story homes or jobs that require fascia repair usually run a second day. The gutter coil is fabricated on-site, so there’s no waiting on a supplier. We put the timeline in writing before work starts.
We stock the materials to fabricate seamless 5-inch and 6-inch K-style gutters, downspouts, elbows, end caps, hangers, and all the flashing components that tie the gutter into a GAF roof system. We don’t stock pre-made branded gutter sections because quality residential gutters aren’t built that way. The material is fabricated to your roofline on-site, which means fewer seams and a better fit than any boxed product.
